    Ambassador Daniel Fried
    Bio Ambassador Daniel Fried retired in 2017 as America’s longest serving diplomat with a career that has spanned the arc of the Cold War, the collapse of the Soviet Union, NATO expansion, and the Russia incursion in Ukraine. He served under five Presidents in key postings including assistant secretary of state for Europe and Eurasia, special assistant and NSC director for Presidents Clinton and Bush, US ambassador to Poland, and State Department coordinator on sanctions policy.
