Haley N. Zelms

Haley N. Zelms is a second-year Master's student at Old Dominion University, specializing in U.S. Foreign Policy and International Relations. Her research focuses on the intersection of international law (U.S., U.K., and ECHR frameworks) and modern warfare tactics, particularly in non-traditional conflict zones. She further developed this expertise through coursework in International Humanitarian Law at the University of Oxford.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Haley is a dedicated leader and community advocate. She previously served as the youngest-ever President of the Scottish Society of Tidewater and actively volunteers with the Virginia International Tattoo and NATO Fest, promoting international collaboration and cultural exchange. Her commitment to inclusivity and social responsibility is evident in her work with organizations like Veterans Alternative and the Wounded Warrior Project, and notably, she was recognized with the Selfless Helper Award in 2021 for developing safety-focused programming for Greek Life at ODU. She currently serves on the Board of the World Affairs Council of Hampton Roads and is president of the Graduate Society of International Studies at ODU. With a strong background in international relations and extensive experience in intercultural initiatives, Haley is committed to fostering collaboration and cross-cultural understanding.
