Olusoji Akomolafe
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Dr. Soji Akomolafe is Professor of International Relations and Chair of the Department of Political Science at Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in French and English (Combined Honors) from the University of Lagos in 1980 and a Master of Science in International Relations from the University of Ife in 1984, both in Nigeria. In 1991, he completed his doctorate in International Relations at the Center for Black African Studies (CEAN), University of Bordeaux, France.
Dr. Akomolafe has held several leadership positions in higher education. From 2003 to 2007, he served as Director of the Center for Global Education at Norfolk State University. Prior to joining NSU, he was Director of International Programs at LeMoyne- Owen College in Memphis, Tennessee, from 1992 to 2003.
From 2004 to present, he has served intermittently on the Board of Directors of the World Affairs Council of Hampton Roads, including two terms as Vice President. Dr. Akomolafe is the co-author of two books and has contributed nine chapters to edited volumes in the fields of international relations, African politics, and global affairs. He is currently completing a book that examines the Nigerian government’s response to the Boko Haram insurgency.
His international experience includes extensive travel and professional engagement in South Africa, England, China, Scotland, Peru, the Dominican Republic, the Philippines, Mexico, South Korea, Canada, France, and Nigeria, where he has established enduring academic and institutional partnerships.
