Darlyn Covington Janson

Darlyn Covington Janson graduated from Stony Brook University in 1982 and New York University in 1987. She spent her early career working at the WTC in NYC as a Financial Analyst.  By way of North Carolina she came to Virginia Beach to raise her 3 children. She attended Old Donation University, in the Career Switcher program, to begin her third career as a teacher with Virginia Beach City Public Schools. She currently teaches AP Comparative Government & Politics and VA/US government at Frank W. Cox high school.  She has been coaching the Cox World Quest team for 12 years and also sponsors  the Rho Kappa Social Studies National Honor Society.  She spent many years coaching the JV Volleyball team at Norfolk Academy, the Model UN team and the Model NATO candidate for Cox high school. She now serves on the board of the World Affairs Council of Greater Hampton Roads assisting on the education committee.  She lives in Virginia Beach, Virginia with her better half,  Brian Allard, a retired AP Physics teacher, and is a proud new grandma (Oma). Darlyn also sponsors Education First tours to Europe for students and families associated with the school  system. She recently took a group of students and families to Spain and will be bringing a group to Japan in 2025.
